MORE ABOUT
THE HUNTER LYMPHOLOGY TELEHEALTH CLINIC

The Hunter Lymphology Clinic was originally set up as a clinical education unit in Maitland, NSW, Australia in 2006, to allow undergraduate health students supervised clinical interactions with people with lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema is a chronic health condition affecting an estimated 1 in 1000 people which requires lifelong management to limit progression, and reduce the impact of symptoms on health and quality of life.

Self-management is the key to good lymphoedema management. The Hunter Lymphology Telehealth Clinic focuses on educating patients to enable them to confidently and competently self-manage their lymphoedema.

The Hunter Lymphology Telehealth Clinic offers an adjunct to face-to-face lymphoedema therapy.

Pros and cons of having a telehealth consultation:

The benefits of having a video consultation can be:
» Reducing the waiting time to see your usual lymphoedema therapist
» Avoiding the need for you to travel to see your lymphoedema therapist
» Maintaining management of your health when you can’t visit your lymphoedema therapist in person.

The risks of having a video consultation can be:
» A video consultation will not be exactly the same and may not be as complete as a face-to-face service.
» There could be some technical problems that affect the consultation.

The Hunter Lymphology Telehealth Clinic does NOT hold face-to-face therapy sessions.

We focus on lymphoedema self-management education tailored to the individual's requirements.

We collaborate with other lymphoedema therapists & health professionals

to bring you lymphoedema care to suit your needs.
